Who we are and what this is

Lindaran is software operated by Cognitive Meridian LLC ("we", "us"). It lets a painting contractor collect photos from a homeowner, produce a price estimate from those photos, send it, and collect a deposit.

These terms cover two different people, and say so each time: the contractor who subscribes, and the homeowner who requests a quote.

By creating an account or submitting a quote request, you agree to these terms. If you do not agree, do not use Lindaran.

We are not the painter

Lindaran is a tool contractors use. We do not paint, inspect, supervise, employ, license, insure, or vet any contractor. We are not a party to any agreement between a contractor and a homeowner.

Any dispute about the work, the price, the schedule, damage, or a refund is between the homeowner and the contractor. We will provide records of what the software sent and when, if asked by either party.

Estimates are estimates

Prices produced by Lindaran come from photographs and from the contractor's own price list. They are estimates, not binding offers, unless the contractor says otherwise in writing.

Photographs cannot reveal everything. Hidden damage, wallpaper under paint, substrate problems, access difficulties, and lead or asbestos containing materials can all change the real price. Both parties accept that the final price may differ from the estimate.

Where an estimate is marked as needing a site visit, the deposit holds that visit, not the job. If the price changes after the visit and the homeowner does not want to proceed, the contractor refunds the deposit in full.

Contractor obligations

If you are a contractor using Lindaran, you confirm that:

• You hold every licence, registration, bond and insurance your state and locality require.
• Where you work on housing or child-occupied facilities built before 1978, you are an EPA Lead-Safe Certified Firm, or you will not disturb paint on those jobs. We flag pre-1978 homes and email the EPA pamphlet as a convenience — that does not make us responsible for your compliance.
• The price list, descriptions and packages you publish through the software are accurate and are yours.
• You will honour estimates you send, or explain in writing why the price changed.
• You will only enter contact details for people who asked you for a quote.
• You are the merchant of record for every deposit. Your Stripe account receives the money and you handle refunds and chargebacks.

Payments and fees

Deposits are processed by Stripe and paid into the contractor's own Stripe account. We never hold contractor funds. Stripe's own terms apply to that account.

We charge the contractor a monthly subscription fee, shown before purchase. Fees are charged automatically.

New accounts start with a free trial of 30 days, with no card required. If you subscribe during the trial, the first charge happens when the trial ends.

Subscriptions renew monthly until cancelled. Cancel any time in Settings in your account — no email or phone call required. Cancellation takes effect at the end of the period already paid for, and your quote link keeps working until then. We do not refund partial months unless the law requires it.

Prices marked as a founding price stay at that price for as long as the subscription stays active. If you cancel and later subscribe again, the price at that time applies.

If a payment fails and is not resolved, your quote link stops accepting new requests. Existing jobs and data remain available.

Referrals

A contractor can invite other contractors with their referral link. A contractor who signs up through someone else's link gets 30 extra days of free trial.

When an invited contractor pays their first subscription invoice, the contractor who invited them earns one free month: a credit equal to one month's subscription fee on their account, used against their next invoices. If they are still on their free trial, their trial is extended by 30 days instead. If they are not subscribed, the credit is held and applied when they subscribe.

Each invited contractor earns a reward once. A contractor can earn up to 12 free months this way. Inviting yourself, or accounts created only to collect rewards, does not count, and we may reverse rewards earned that way. Credits have no cash value and cannot be transferred. We may change or end the referral offer at any time; rewards already earned are kept.

Acceptable use

Do not use Lindaran to send messages to people who did not ask to hear from you, to upload photographs you have no right to use, to impersonate another business, to reverse engineer or resell the service, or to break any law. We may suspend an account that does, without refund.

Your content

Contractors keep ownership of their price lists, text and branding. Homeowners keep ownership of their photographs. You grant us a licence to store and process that content only to run the service for you — producing estimates, delivering messages, and keeping records.

We may use aggregated, de-identified data to improve estimating accuracy. We do not sell your content, and we do not share one contractor's pricing with another.

Availability and liability

Lindaran is provided "as is". We do not promise it will be uninterrupted, error free, or that any estimate will be accurate.

To the fullest extent the law allows, we are not liable for lost profits, lost jobs, mispriced work, or any indirect or consequential loss. Our total liability to a contractor is capped at the fees that contractor paid us in the three months before the claim. Our total liability to a homeowner is capped at one hundred US dollars.

Nothing here limits liability that cannot lawfully be limited.

Ending the agreement

A contractor may cancel at any time. We may suspend or end an account for breach of these terms, for non-payment, or if we stop operating the service, giving reasonable notice where we can.

On request after cancellation, we will export your data and then delete it. See the privacy policy for how long we keep things otherwise.

Changes, law and contact

We may update these terms. Material changes are emailed to account holders at least 14 days before they take effect, and the date at the top of this page always shows the current version.

These terms are governed by the laws of Delaware, without regard to conflict of laws rules.
